9 Donation Channels to Help Flood Victims in Northeast Thailand

0 6108

Following the impact of Tropical Storm Sonca (SONCA) over the upper South China Sea, widespread rainfall has covered many parts of Thailand, with heavy to very heavy rain reported in several areas. The Northeastern region has been particularly affected, facing severe flooding across multiple provinces. One of the hardest-hit areas is Sakon Nakhon Province, where the flood situation remains critical and is considered the most severe in over 60 years.

In some locations, water levels have risen to as high as two meters. The situation has been further aggravated by the collapse of two water retention weirs, combined with runoff from the Phu Phan mountain range and overflow from Huai Diak Dam. As a result, low-lying areas within Mueang Sakon Nakhon District have suffered extensive damage.

Amid this crisis, the strong spirit of solidarity among the Thai people has been evident. Numerous government agencies, private organizations, media outlets, and educational institutions have opened official donation channels to provide financial assistance and essential supplies to flood victims in affected areas, as detailed below.
